Sparkathon was founded on principles of inclusion and diversity. There are no requirements or expected experience and students of all majors, interests, and ages are encouraged to participate.
Sparkathon is organized by a team of undergraduate students from across the 5Cs, supported by Pomona Ventures, and made possible by our amazing sponsors.

Fred spent 25 years at Fidelity Investments in Boston, most recently as Senior Vice President of Design Thinking and Innovation, where he also designed Fidelity’s first website in 1996. Fred has also been a lecturer and fellow at the Stanford d.school, where he taught a range of classes such as “Designing with Data” and “Designing for the Law”

What is Sparkathon?
Sparkathon is an impact-driven design thinking competition, tasking students to work collaboratively to solve pressing real-world issues

Sparkathon is a unique opportunity to practice critical thinking and problem-solving, collaborate with your peers, learn from industry leaders, network with recruiters, and win prizes

Am I eligible?
Yes! All Claremont College students are invited to Sparkathon
What's this year's challenge?
The challenge will be announced at the opening ceremony

What if I don't have a team?
No problem! Sign up as an individual and we'll match you with a team on-site
​
What will I eat?
Sparkathon will be providing free brunch, snacks, and beverages for all participants
​
What are the prizes?
The winning contestants will receive cash prizes, there will be lots of swag, and everyone leaves with good memories :)

November 1, 2025

When does registration close?
November 13, 2025. However, space is limited so don't wait!

Will there be training?
Yes! Sparkathon will host a design thinking workshop about a week before the competition. Date, time, and details will be announced soon
